June 16, 2009- Linda Port, CaPR's Program & Training Director, and Joyce Thielen, volunteer Puppy Raiser & Board Member, were interviewed by CBS 4 News. The news spot showed all of the pups from the litter and explained the need for new Puppy Raisers to train the puppies.

Aurora Sentinel Column "A Helping Friend, Service dogs assist those in need"

Aaron Cole, reporter for the Aurora Sentinel, interviewed Linda Port, Canine Partners’ Program and Training Director and Nicole Miller a recent CaPR graduate. Nicole talked about her experience with her service dog Jack. “He has personality, love and the ability to grow. He helps me live my life as independent as I can.” Linda explained the application process to obtain a CaPR service and demonstrated some service dog tasks with Hudson, a 9-month-old service dog in training. The article appeared in the January 8 – 14, 2009 edition of the Aurora Sentinel.

Recipient of 2007 Denver Commission for People with
Disabilities' Service Animal Award

Canine Partners of the Rockies, Inc. (CaPR) is the recipient of the 2007 Denver Commission for People with Disabilities' Service Animal Award and is recognized for creating a patch program with the Girl Scouts to educate about disabilities and the role of service dogs. Among other things, CaPR service dogs assist their partners by picking up dropped articles, turning light switches on and off, and opening and closing doors and drawers. Dogs also learn a range of additional skills unique to their partner's needs.
